to preface:
i have never done an interview, nor do i know a thing about essays or journalism or the such. this is fueled primarily by personal interest and curiosity. i'm thankful to 20k for taking the time to answer my questions.
20 knives:
20 knives, formerly known as pale, is an electronic artist active from ~2003 to ~2011. he started in the breakcore scene, playing at a venue called the clinic while only being 16. later on, he'd move towards a noticeably rock inspired sound while still staying mostly within electronic bases. his last release was 2011's The Royal We.

question: "have you continued any projects after The Royal We?"
answer: "I have a new project I'm working on under a new name but I haven't put anything out yet. I retired the Twenty Knives project after that record but maybe someday if I feel inspired to make more music like that I will revive it."
question: "what sort of music are you into now?"
answer: "There's a lot of great music out there right now. I listen to a bit more rock and hip hop than I do purely electronic music these days but I'm a big fan of the new Ninajirachi and Sudan Archives that came out this year. I don't listen to a ton of newer breakcore music like machinegirl etc but I've listened a few times and I think it's transition from a more punk-oriented scene to a very alt-terminally online scene is kind of cool. I think a lot of people who like that are probably also going to be into late-hyperpop stuff like Jane Remover (she's really good but sometimes a little too much for me). I also really enjoyed the PC Music stuff that was big last decade and am a big Sophie fan and thought Charli's Brat was incredible. On the rock side I really love Ohsees, The Chats, stuff that's a bit scuzzy or punky really hits for me usually. Hip hop had a great year, the Clipse record was great and my favorite record of the year was the new Earl Sweatshirt."
